The Theatron – a group of young actors at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University was one of the students’ troupes participating in the ‘Two Nights in May’, an International Student Theatre Festival, which passed in the city of Elgava, Latvia. A week of excellent performers and superb performances on 25-30th May was full of excitement. The Theatron from BSU invited the spectators to the French piece ‘Family Idyll” (directed by Roin Dvali and Giorgi Pirtskalashvili), a performance, which turned into the most wonderful success story – the troupe from BSU was awarded several of the Festival Prizes.
The Best Actress Award went to Mariam Kikava, and the Best Actor in a Leading Role’s Award went to Mikheil Jincharadze and Irakli Katamadze,
Director of the ‘Family Idyll”, Roin Fvali was awarded a Festival Participant’s Prize, while the troupe was also honored with the Special Award for the Best Performance. The Latvian International Student Theatre Festival ‘Two Nights in May’ organized several workshops and the master classes. The Festival hosted troupes from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Georgia, represented by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
