A delegation from Cork (Ireland) visited Shota Rustaveli State University. Rector Merab Khalvashi met Cork County Mayor John Paul O `Shea, Executive Director of the Cork County Council Tim Lucy, and Executive Officer of the Cork County Corporate Services Sean o`Kalahens. At the introductory meeting, the parties exchanged information. Rector Merab Khalvashi talked about the educational programs and the International Relations of BSU. The delegation from Ireland and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Rector mapped out the priority directions and discussed prospects for future cooperation between BSU and higher education institutions in Ireland.

The international summer school “Media and Nationalism” finished at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University with the award ceremony: Vice Rector Inga Shamilishvili, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Kate Beridze, Head of the International Relations Department Nana Kurshubadze certified the participants. The 5-day workshops, which covered urgent issues of the mass media, was initiated by the ’Broader Perspective’’ from Paris Institute of Political Institute (Sciences Po). The young participants, both international and BSU students, discussed the current media issues, and role of the media and propaganda.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the 8th session of the Special Working Group of the European environment and health process. The forum was organized jointly by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Adjara Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, L. Sakvarelidze National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Public Health Center for the Adjara Autonomous Republic under the auspices of the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO / Euro). The Forum was dedicated to the preliminaries of the 6th high-level session of the European Environment and Health Care Ministerial 2017. Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Acting Rector Merab Khalvashi welcomed the Forum participants, introduced the University and suggested holding of the Ministerial 2017 at the premises of BSU.

Italian Ambassador to Georgia H.E. Antonio Enrico Bartoli visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and met the students who study international relations. H.E. Italian Ambassador to Georgia spoke about the cultural, educational and political relations between the two countries and discussed future prospects.

Professor Sergei Maskevich, Director of the Belarusian International Institute of Ecology named after A. Sakharov visited Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The two higher educational institutions agreed to cooperate on the priority issues such as protection of ecology and natural resources. The parties expressed interest to engage ministries of natural resources in both countries and launch jointly summer schools, as well as to implement joint educational programs and projects within the Memorandum of Understanding.
