Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University launched ‘Batumi Summer University - Nuclear Safety and Non-proliferation: Global Challenges and Opportunities” in partnership with the organizers: Civil Council on Defense and Security (Tbilisi, Georgia) and sponsored by the Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
The Summer University intends to raise awareness among the university professors and the experts in the area about the international nuclear non-proliferation and security issues. The second goal of the Summer University is to set up a network of experts in the field in the Black Sea region and to facilitate its development.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Rector Merab Khalvashi hosted Malopolska government delegation, Poland. The delegation headed by Wojciech Kozak, Vice Marshal of the Malopolska region were introduced to the history of BSU, the educational programs, and the projects of international cooperation. The Rector emphasized on the already established
cooperation with the University of Silesia and the running joint projects.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University opened International Summer School "Towards a Euro-Atlantic Strategy in the Black Sea Region”. The opening ceremony of the summer school was attended by the BSU Deputy Rector Inga Shamilishvili, First Deputy State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Archil Karaulashvili, Acting Director of the NATO and EU Information Center George Pareshishvili, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Romania in Georgia Mr. Radu Gorncioi, Marie-France Perdigon, Director of the Summer University Programme at the International Centre of European Education.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting an international summer school: ‘Manifesting Europeanization in the South Caucasus and Black Sea Region – through the of Economic, Legal and Social Spectrums’. The summer school was opened by the honorary guests: Archil Karaulashvili, First Deputy State Minister of Integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic Structures, BSU Vice Rector Inga Shanilishvili, Zaza Vashakmadze, Chairperson of the State Agency of the Religious Issues, Giorgi Ermakov, Batumi City Mayor. The International summer school has been organized through the EU program Jean Monet Network “Developing European Studies in the Caucasus” and the Erasmus + study module “European Law in the South Caucasus”.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Rector Merab Khalvashi and Valencia Polytechnic University (Spain) Vice Rector Prof. Juan Miguel Matinez Rubio signed Memorandum of Understanding.
The Memorandum of Understanding foresees sharing of experience, exchange of the academic staff and expansion of the research cooperation in various areas of common interest.
The Memorandum also includes agreement on the students exchange, participation in the academic and research projects, and collaboration in the training development and implementation activities.
Valencia Polytechnic University (UPV) and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) have been developing partnership and cooperation since 2013 through various Erasmus projects, e.g. Erasmus Mundus Action 2, EuroEast, Electra, and TEMPUS and other projects. BSU students and academic staff participated in various educational and research projects at Valencia Polytechnic University through the Erasmus projects.
