UNESCO - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has chosen 6 scientists from 6 countries around the world to elaborate an Open Science Strategy, amongst which is Izolda Machutadze, a senior researcher at the Institute of Phytopathology and Biodiversity of BSU. Within the framework of the event, the researcher took part in the UNESCO Forum on Science for Peace and Development and gave recommendations for consideration while developing the strategy. The strategy aims at introducing science advancements to the broader community and innovative entrepreneurs, who influence the development of economics, environment, and technology policy.

The English language program of the Doctor of Medicine of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University program has been successfully accredited. Ambassador of France to Georgia Diego Colas paid a visit to Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. At the introductory meeting with the Rector of the University Merab Khalvashi, the representative of the diplomatic corps talked about cultural-educational relations, directions of future cooperation and exchange programs of the two countries. Implementation of a joint educational program in the field of tourism was planned. Within the framework of the visit, French Ambassador to Georgia Diego Colas also met with students, professors and lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities and introduced them to the mission, goals, and objectives of the Embassy and at the end of the meeting, the French Ambassador answered the questions from listeners.

Academic Council of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University awarded professors Paata Kervalishvili and Athanasios Mamalis with titles of honorary doctors of BSU. Professors Paata Kervalishvili and Athanasios Mamalis contributed significantly to the development of the university and the upbringing of future generations. The Georgian researcher has authored about 500 scientific articles, books, inventions, reports, and the Greek scholar has published 32 books and monographs, 12 textbooks, 580 articles and has 2 patents.

DAAD information meeting was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. Maxim Bornmann, a representative of DAAD, introduced the students and professors with teaching-research scholarships, competition regulations, selection criteria and terms of study in Germany. DAAD Scholarships are intended for students, professors and researchers of all educational programs.
