Heinrich Böll Foundation South Caucasus Regional Bureau launched the project ‘Who's Afraid of feminism’, hosted by the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; The Foundation sponsored series of lectures by the philosopher Lela Gaphrindashvili, women’s human rights’ defender. The philosopher gave a public lecture on ‘Feminism and women's rights movement from the strand to the center’. The speaker reviewed the history of women's empowerment and the major actors. The audience learnt about the history of Western feminist ideas and its relation to the Georgian reality. The speaker emphasized on the idea of equality and talked about the Georgian feminists who pioneered in the movement for women’s’ rights, hence paving the way for the next generations of women. The BSU will host the series of public lectures every Friday 17:00 through 13 December.

Memorandum of understanding was signed between the NGOs " Rights of the Persons with Disabilities" and the local group “Elsa Batumi” of the European Law Students' Association. The MoA envisages development of the law projects for the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University students. The projects will focus on the joint programs and trainings.

BSU hosted the event devoted to the International Hospice and Palliative Care Day; The students’ scientific practical conference opened with poster presentations.
Giorgi Lobzhanidze, Chairman of the Georgian Medical Doctors’ Association, TSU professor, Dimitri Kordzaya, Chairman of the National Association of Palliative Care gave panel discussion on the topics relevant to the field. The students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli University and Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University learnt about Palliative Care and visited palliative care patients.

The Adjara Education Fund presented free foreign languages and computer courses at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The Fund officers discussed the current opportunities of the scheduled projects with the professors and the students. The Adjara Education Fund has been implementing the project since 2011 throughout all the municipalities. The project offers free courses in English, German and French languages and computer know-how as well as TOEFL test preparation. The free courses are open to the community. Any citizen of Georgia with the minimum age limit to 18 and above is eligible to apply.

University hosted a book presentation - "Evaluation of Teaching in Inclusive Schools" authored by Richard Ross and Knut Roar Engh. The book project was supported by the Education and Science Ministry and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. British expert of education Richard Ross and Norwegian educator Knut Roar Engh aimed to bring closer to the community the vision of inclusive education and training, having added number of innovative approaches to it. The coursebook offers valuable guidelines to the inclusive learning teachers, professors and educators of the Faculty of Education.
