Professor Merab Khalvashi, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Mr.Valeri Gulbani, Director of the Georgian-Spanish Research and Consultation Centre “Research and Innovation for Business Solutions” signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Following the agreement between the parties the Spanish Centre of Education and Culture-Iberia-has been created at BSU where the Spanish Language and other Certification courses will be activated. In the frame of the Memorandum joint international conferences, forums, training courses and exchange programmes will be implemented. On top of the exchange programmes educational and research projects will be realized.

On the basis of the Memorandum the Laboratory of Industrial Innovations existed on the basis of the Faculty of Technologies of BSU- FAB LAB BSU-will be given the possibility to participate in the events organized by Spanish and Georgian Techno Park and other research organizations of innovations.

Mr. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, and the representatives of the Research Institutes, Faculty Deans and the Research Service met Mr. Peter Lindholm, the representative of the World Bank, Mr. Avtandil Kasradze, Deputy Chair of Innovation and Technologies Agency and Ms. Salome Khachiauri, Head of the Department of Innovations and commercialization. The Agency of Innovations and Technologies of Georgia starts intensive actions for commercialization of the research works. The Agency is interested in the research carried out at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University that could be the potential subject to commercialization and would be interesting for the global market. The representatives of the World Bank will support Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University in commercialization of the research carried out in BSU.

The Director of the French Institute in Georgia Mr. Jean-Yves Lavoir had a meeting with Mr. Merab Khalvashi, the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Mrs. Marine Giorgadze, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and the professors and teaching staff of the named faculty. The visit was aimed at enlisting BSU in the International University Agency of Francophonie and strengthening the cooperation between BSU and HEIs of France. Moreover, implementation of the joint projects and programmes together with the University of Rouen and the University of Rennes was planned.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the representatives of the Non-governmental Organization “Estonian Women’s Studies and Resource Centre” (ENUT). At the meeting with Mr. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU, Mrs. Tamar Siradze, Deputy Rector, professors, teaching and administrative staff, Estonian experts discussed the issues related to the women’s economical, social and political enhancement methods, their achievements and challenges they have to face. The event took place in the frame of the international project “For the Protection of the Women and the Children’s Rights in the Region of Ajara” organized by the association “For Each Other”;

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Georgia. At the meeting with the Rector of BSU Mr. Merab Khalvashi Mr. Kim in Hwan Charge, D’af-faires of the Embassy and Mr. Byun Seungwoo, Attaché of Culture of the Embassy discussed the cooperation between two countries and the directions of the future collaboration. The parties planned the implementation of the joint educational and cultural projects. The members of delegation handed BSU “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” translated in Korean Language and the books.
