Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Rector Merab Khalvashi. Vice Rector Natia Tsiklashvili, Vice Rector Tamar Siradze, professors of the Faculty of Natural Sciences discussed prospects of future cooperation with the delegates from the ’Green Seafood’, a fish processing company in Norway.
The parties will sign the memorandum of understanding, which will support training of the future professionals for the fishery industry. The trainings will be held jointly at the faculties of Health Care and Natural Sciences.
Through the collaboration project, BSU will work closely with the Norwegian universities, high schools and companies to exchange students.
‘Green SeafFood’ consortium is going to invest in Kobuleti and launch a pilot project of Norwegian salmon processing farm. The project envisages new technologies and fish production with the organic food.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Institute of Phytopathology and Biodiversity scientists presented a report on the scientific research work for 2016., The presentation was attended by the University rector Merab Khalvashi, Minister of the Adjara AR Agriculture Lasha Kobakhidze, Deputy Rector of BSU Natia Tsiklashvili and the Head of the BSU Administration Jemal Ananidze.The scientists presented the research outcomes of the biodiversity studies covering the orange geno-fund, rare and endangered species adapted to the local conditions, hybrids revealing and studying, their protection and maintenance. The research results also dealt with dozens of rare orange species and over 20 species of nut obtained in the framework of the expedition. The scientists also reported on the more than 80 apple and pear varieties and kiwi cultivation three- year plan in the highlands, which they described in their research of the fruit diversity in the Adjara seaside area and the highlands, biologically active substances in the local and introduced flora species, their cytotoxic effects on tumor cells.

16 students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will take part in the Erasmus+ exchange project to study in various leading European High Educational Institutions.
Erasmus+ sponsors one term abroad study projects, the students will have the opportunity to study in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Poland.
Prof. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of BSU congratulated the students with the great opportunity and awarded BSU Certificates of Participation.
The students passed the 3 rounds of competition to win the European Commission scholarships, including of the English language testing, academic excellence and the interview.
During the 2016-2018 BSU won 22 international exchange scholarships for BA, MA and PHD students

BSU`s futsal team championed in the first International Futsal Tournament "Ajara 2017". Batumi Shota Rsutaveli State University students team competed the contenders, the Dinamo Batumi, the Azerbaijani team, Gencherbirling and the Moscow Vershini in the international Futsal Tournament. The BSU team obtained the highest number of scores and qualified the top team, with the runner-up Dinamo Batumi, third placed - Azerbaijan Gencherbirlingi and fourth placed Moscow Vershini. The tournament was organized by the Ajara Futsal and Beach Football Federation and sponsored by the Ajara Autonomous Republic Department of Sports and Youth Affairs. Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Rector’s office and the Administration congratulates the team on the victory and wishes them success.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University students will depart to Kazakhstan to spend a semester at KAZGUU beginning from 7 February. BSU and KAZGUU, Kazakh University of Humanities and law exchange students under the signed Memorandum of cooperation. 5 students of law and a student of humanities were selected by the jury based on the academic background and English language competences. On the other hand, 15 students from Kazakhstan will study law at BSU for one term through the exchange program. Overall, over 20 Kazakh students studied at BSU during a couple of years. Vice Rector Natia Tsiklashvili, Dean of the faculty of Law Adam Makharadze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Marina Giorgadze and Head of the International Relations Department Nana Kurshubadze congratulated the students with the victory and wished them success.
