
On april 25, 2023, a conference - "Conference of Innovative Education: Fostering Sustainable Digital Innovation in Schools" was held at Tallinn University within the framework of the "Horizon 2020" project "Accelerating Digital Innovation in Schools through Regional Innovation Hubs and Mentoring Model" (IHUB4Schools).
The purpose of the conference was to share news and experience regarding the introduction of digital technologies in the educational process. The representatives of the partner universities involved in the IHUB4Schools project talked about the implementation of the mentoring model in schools, the use of digital technologies and artifcial intelligence in the educational process, challenges and prospects.
During the conference, education experts discussed the pressing issue of fostering mutual cooperation between universities and schools. They emphasized the importance of implementing and introducing joint programs that would enable an interesting and efficient educational process.
At the conference, staff from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) and the partner school made presentations during various sessions. Nino Mikeladze, an English language teacher at Batumi Public School N1 named after Ilia Chavchavadze, along with BSU associate professors Nana Makaradze, Madonna Mikeladze, and Tatia Nakashidze, spoke about the crucial role of digital technologies in the educational process. They also discussed the significance of regional innovative hubs in introducing digital innovations to schools.
In addition to this, the participants of the conference shared the outcomes of piloting the mentoring model developed within the framework of the project in schools located in the Adjara region. The conference attendees were presented with examples of how the model was implemented and its impact on the students' academic performance. These reports shed light on the positive results achieved by the implementation of innovative teaching methods and the use of technology in the classroom.
The reports presented by the BSU staff and teachers of the partner school were met with great interest by the conference participants. Their contributions were valuable in highlighting the importance of using digital technologies and innovative teaching methods to enhance the quality of education and promote student learning. The conference provided a platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and best practices, and it is hoped that the discussions will pave the way for further collaboration and development in the education sector.
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has been involved in the IHUB4Schools grant project since 2021. The main goal of the project is to introduce digital innovations in schools through regional innovation hubs and a mentoring model.
