
Summer School Institution-Centered Conflict Studies (ICCS) at BSU
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted international summer school as part of the project, Institution-Centered Conflict Studies (ICCS) on 17-27 August. The summer school had international participants, experts, as well as professors, scholars, educators and students of BSU. The summer school focused on the study of institutional approaches to the conflict resolution, ways of their research and application in practice.
The project is a continuation of the project From Understanding Local Conflicts - Using Development Opportunities launched in 2011-2013 and sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation (Germany). The project already succeeded in reaching two goals: Kabardino-Balkarian State University developed a new Master’s program: Sociology of Conflicts, and founded a North Caucasian Graduate School of Conflict Studies.
This three year project foresees implementation of the new educational and research systems in Maykop, Sokhumi and Batumi Universities. The major program aides are Marburg University Conflict Research Center (Germany) and Bielefeld (Germany) Conflict and Violence Interdisciplinary Research Institute, which also offer additional scientific and academic degrees. The project will support joint educational programs and research initiatives.
