
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University welcomed the English Language Summer School. The ceremony was opened by the US Ambassador to Georgia, His Excellency Richard Norland, BSU’s Acting Rector, Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Marina Giorgadze, Director of Programming and Training, Peace Corps Georgia, Carmen Sheehan, and the Peace Corps English language teacher at BSU Marya Innis. The two weeks of immersion into the language and culture will benefit the school and university students who will enhance their language command, train skills of communication and build fluency. Sessions of the first week will focus on the successful public school students of IX, X and XI grades, with as high as 130 enrolments, while the second week training participants are BSU's 100 students of English Philology. The summer school joins forces of Georgian professors with 6 American Peace Corps volunteer teachers, organized by Marya Innis. The BSU summer school trainees will be awarded Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Peace Corps certificates.
