At Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the 16th International Conference of the Georgian Mathematical Union was officially opened with the support of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The conference will continue through 31 August–5 September and will bring together more than 300 scholars from universities and scientific research institutions in Georgia and abroad. This cooperation will contribute to strengthening scientific ties between institutions, developing joint research activities, and expanding exchange programmes.
The conference participants were welcomed by Tite Aroshidze, Rector of BSU, Jemal Surmanidze, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and Alexander Meskhi, President of the Georgian Mathematical Union and Honorary Doctor of BSU, who addressed the significance of the conference.
Holding an international conference at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will significantly contribute to strengthening scientific cooperation, further developing mathematical research in Georgia, sharing scientific information, and enhancing the country's international visibility in the scientific community.
The conference will be held in a hybrid format and will include 10 parallel sections:
- Algebra and Number Theory;
- Differential and Integral Equations and Their Applications;
- Geometry and Topology;
- Logic, Language and Artificial Intelligence;
- Mathematical Education and History of Mathematics;
- Mathematical Logic and Discrete Mathematics;
- Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis;
- Theoretical Physics;
- Probability Theory, Statistics and Financial Mathematics;
- Real and Complex Analysis.
Three mini-symposia will also be held as part of the conference, featuring the participation of internationally recognized researchers.
The conference proceedings will be published in electronic format and made available through an international open-access scientific database. Selected scientific papers presented at the conference will be published in the international scientific journal Journal of Mathematical Sciences, published by Springer.
Alongside the conference, the seasonal school “Mathematics for AI” will also be held. The aim of the school is to introduce participants to the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence, establish an international educational platform in the region, strengthen academic cooperation among the younger generation, and facilitate knowledge sharing. Particular attention will be paid to fostering future academic collaboration between participants and invited lecturers.
