Agrarian and Membrane Technologies Institute

History

The Institute of Agrarian and Membrane Technologies was established by the Academic Council’s decree №228, November 29, 2012 at Shota Rustaveli State University.  However, it was incepted as early as 1943 as a branch of the Scientific Research Institute of canning industry. As a branch of the institute, it had a SU status and was equipped with the most advanced technologies.  

Since 2006 the Institute became structural part of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The Institute of Agrarian and Membrane Technologies is the unique one in Georgia which works on various directions, e.g. membrane technological processes: highly selective polymer membrane development, production of membrane devices and their introduction to medical and chemical-pharmaceutical institutions, food processing, agro-industries and firms in certain areas), and individual consumption etc.

Since 1999, the Institute works on national and international grant projects. The team of researchers have been awarded funds by World Bank and the Government. This made possibly to update and computerize the material-technical base of the Institute.
